DISCLAIMER

Please note that the animal health and husbandry information contained in this website is merely what has worked for me and my herd.  I do not claim to know all the answers and can only offer you the best information based on my experience and research.  Please use common sense and monitor your goats daily.  If you have any questions or problems please consult a ruminant vet directly if the health and welfare of your goat is in question.
My “Care Of” page is just the beginning and not intended to be your entire education about goats.  There is so much to learn about goats and it’s your responsibility to research and learn as much as possible BEFORE you decide to buy a goat.
Owning a goat can be a fun experience and can bring many years of joy and companionship, However, the responsibilities of  pet ownership should be considered carefully before you purchase your goat and not after.

DEPOSITS / PAYMENTS

We accept deposits in the form of cash, personal check, or money order payable to “Cheryl Coughlin – Apache Downs”.   When you come to pick up your goat(s) we require that you pay your balance and any additional fees such as vet bills, requested testing, or farm fees tacked on due to late pickups ($2 / day after agreed date of pickup stated on the “Goat Sales Contract”) in cash or by money order.  Personal checks will not be accepted unless it is received 10 days prior to pickup.

SHIPPING / PICKUP

We do not ship our goats.  Considerations may be made to deliver up to a 200 mile radius for an additional fee.  Delivery fees and balance of payment for you purchase is required before transport.
We do encourage you to pick up your goat(s) whenever possible.  We prefer this option as it allows us to meet with you and help you in the initial introduction and the responsibilities it will entail.  You will be able to view our housing facilities, meet the parent(s) of your goat, view our records to insure good breeding / management practices, and we can answer any questions you may have.

GUARANTEE

Apache Downs guarantees all our animals to be healthy at the time of pickup or delivery.  Kids are required to stay with the dam for 8 weeks (longer if needed). During that time the kids will be wormed, disbudded, hooves trimmed as needed, and receive any necessary vaccines.  Bucklings that we don’t see fit to participate in breeding will be neutered and offered as wethers.  Apache Downs reserves the right to make this decision because there is no reason to keep a buck if he is not be beneficial to a breeding program.
Because we cannot determine how you are caring for your pet after pickup from our farm we cannot guarantee his long term health.  It is your responsibility as the buyer to take care of your pet the moment you receive them.  No goat(s) will leave our farm unless they are healthy, socialized, eating and drinking on their own, allow the buyer to review our annual testing documents for our herd, a hoof trim, and an exam is conducted (weight, temp, rumen activity recorded).   This will insure that Apache Downs is selling you a healthy pet.
